For this project, we collaborated with Simpsons Malt, based in Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Simpsons Malt had a unique challenge, the need to replace their existing fire doors due to the corrosive effects of stored fertilisers.
Our team was entrusted with the task of not only creating durable fire doors but also designing and installing robust frames for maximum safety and longevity.
The fertiliser storage area at Simpsons Malt presented an environment that took a toll on the existing wooden fire doors, causing rot. To ensure the safety of their operations and to adhere to fire safety regulations, the decision was made to replace these doors with sturdier, corrosion-resistant alternatives.

A Precise Fit
Our team of experts were required to measure the door openings to ensure a precise fit.
Then, at our workshop in Ambleside, we set to work crafting custom fire doors and frames that would stand up to the corrosive environment.
Two of the fire doors were constructed from galvanised steel, known for its durability and resistance to corrosion. The other two were crafted from stainless steel, offering exceptional strength and corrosion resistance. Each door and frame were designed to meet the highest industry standards for fire safety while also withstanding the challenging conditions of the fertiliser storage area.
Once the custom fire doors and frames were ready, our team moved on Site for installation. The new fire doors not only met fire safety regulations but also provided long-term reliability and durability. They offered peace of mind to Simpsons Malt, assuring them that their operations were protected by fire-resistant barriers designed to withstand even the harshest conditions.
